Winter Driving Schools @ Lime Rock Park

As we enjoy the holidays this week and look forward to 2024, many of us are  thinking about when we can have fun experiences behind the wheel. Mother Nature has been reluctant to provide enough ice for our traditional winter schools on frozen Adirondack lakes, and it’s 5 months before the summer driving season, so what to do?

Audi Club Northeast has a solution! Join us at Lime Rock Park for a Winter Driving Skills School (car control clinic) on Saturday January 27, 2024. Can’t make the 27th… a second date planned for Saturday February 24, 2024. Make sure to block out your calendars for this event.

What to Expect.  This one-day event begins at 9:00 AM with registration, a brief driver’s meeting and classroom session. Following the classroom, there will be on track instruction utilizing the skid pad and autocross course from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
Learn new or enhance your car control skills on the FCP Euro Proving Grounds.  Here, with our instructors, we will do traditional car control exercises and low speed lapping. You will experience the nuances of weight transfer, advanced braking techniques while gaining increased confidence behind the wheel.

Should Mother Nature grace us with snow, our versatile volunteers and instructors will turn on the low friction switch in their brains and we will have an awesome winter school!

Most importantly, NEQ’s Winter School Program is not just for hot-shoe track junkies but also for their teenage children and spouses and anyone who wants to improve their low friction driving abilities. The entry fee provides an opportunity to hone your driving skills in a safe and supportive environment with skilled instructors. The fun and camaraderie…priceless!

The cost for each student attendee will be $290.

Once registration opens, in order to maximize the experience for all, attendance will be limited to 36 students plus instructors.  There will be a waitlist for registrants above the 36 number.  And if response is far greater than the maximum number of students, a lottery will determine the roster for the day. We will also allow a limited number of guests for observation and ride-a-longs.
Vehicle Requirements:  Participants must have a car which is in good condition and fitted, preferably, with all-season tires. If snow is anticipated, NONSTUDDED snow tires are a good option. We welcome all vehicle brands and types and SUV’s are allowed. Participants must have a valid driver’s license or learner’s permit. All participants (and those accompanying them) should be warmly dressed, with good boots, a warm hat and gloves.
