The depth and breath of “the vehicle world” knows no limit, and as we’ve always said “if it’s got an engine and a way to steer it … we’re interested.”
Returning to sunny Tampa, Florida for Special Forces Week (SOF WEEK) was no exception. We got to explore all sorts of innovative and interesting vehicles throughout the week-long conference.
We also got an opportunity to speak with Per Suneby from LiquidPiston about their revolutionary new engine. “The Dorito is on the outside of the Rotary” we joked. We won’t share all the technical details now, because we look forward to having them on an upcoming Break/Fix Podcast episode soon! (Follow @motoringpodcastnetwork on IG for updates).
Countries from around the world participate in SOF Week and it’s as much a technology exchange as it is a unique type of trade show.
The week builds up to and crescendos with the capabilities demonstration known as “The Battle of the Bay.” If you’ve never seen it before, it’s worth checking out (video below). This event features examples from each of the different branches of the armed services, with an equally impressive display of vehicles, equipment, ingenuity and physical skills.
To learn more about the U.S. Special Forces, SOF Week and more, be sure to tune into their Podcast “SOFCAST” available everywhere you stream, download or listen.
It was truly an enlightening experience chatting with all the different engineers and vendors at the SOF Week 2024 conference and learning about changes in modern Military Vehicles, especially how they are adopting and using EV and alternative fuel technologies. We look forward to learning more about the vehicles (and cool gadgets) we discovered at SOF Week and sharing them with you throughout the season.
Thank you to everyone in the armed services, for their service, and continued support of GTM. #ClubHouseMembers #DoDCarClub
