Maximum Overdrive!

The other day I saw an article about how power-wheels and big-wheels now have tablet dashboards with music apps and built in speakers, or places for kids to put their phones so they can take their tunes with them. This got me thinking… ever since I was a little one (yes, I actually was small at some point in my life) I was always moving in the car, singing and dancing to whatever song was on the radio, mostly The Moody Blues and Michael Jackson if I was with my mom, or AC/DC and Van Halen if it was my dad. It was very rare to be in the car and not hear something coming from the speakers.

My love for music and my love for cars have stuck with me through the years and the relationship between the two is something mystical and magical. I can think back to certain moments in my life and remember the exact song that was playing on the radio at the time, whether it be driving to my high school graduation (listening to my playlist consisting of Korn, White Zombie, Pantera, and others) or driving around with friends looking for a spot in the country to pull off and have a beer/enjoy the starry sky (Incubus‘ latest album was on), I can’t remember much about those days except the car, and the music. Even now, when I hit the road for a track event or a nice drive on a perfect day, I always have my music. Anyone that has been to a track event with me can attest to this as my Megaboom speaker is never far away and you can always hear tunes around the paddock.

And apparently I am not alone, because, with a little help from my GTM friends, we were able to put together a list of songs that we love listening to in the car/working on the car/being around cars.
