Philadelphia Motorsports Expo

New Year... New Things!

Share

I got a call a couple of weeks ago to come attend the Motorsports Racecar & Trade Show by our friend Kip at the IMRRC. Initially we were going to meet there and browse the show together, but unfortunately he had a conflict and I was his fill-in for the event coverage. Not knowing what to expect, I headed up to the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center, in Oaks, PA – closers to Phoenixville / King of Prussia than Philly, either way not too long of a trek from the DMV.

Having missed PRI (Performance Racing Industries) annual show in Indianapolis this year, I assumed this would be a “smaller version” of the same thing. About 20ft in the doors, I realized this show was more tailored than that, catering to the Sprint, Oval and Late-Model disciplines of motorsports. Nothing wrong with that.

I explored every row and every booth of the 240,000 square feet of nothing but racing! The show floor included pro-drivers like Kenny Schrader, Jimmy Spencer and others; with special autograph sessions. The show also included a first look at the 2024 line of race cars that will be debuting all over the country.

There were all sorts of cars on display throughout the show floor, from Hot Rods, to Show Cars, Vintage Race Cars and more!

For those of us tied into Formula-1 fandom, there was even a previous season HAAS Formula-1 car on display.

I was able to snag a real find at one of the many vendors at the show. An autographed copy of Mario Andretti’s book from his time at Lotus Formula-1. Check out our episode of Break/Fix with Mario to learn more about this.

We couldn’t help ourselves, we had to leave a message for everyone on the Pocono Raceway Chevy Camaro Pace Car.

Overall, The Motorsports Expo was a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon. And if you’re interested in exclusive memorabilia, new safety gear, and a chance to meet racing heroes, then definitely add this event to your calendar for next year if you missed it!

Thanks Kip, for suggesting it!
