The 2016 season opens with some of the most variable weather I’ve seen in ages! I fondly remember as a kid coming to Summit Point with my father for track events and March was always hit or miss. Cool and Dry, Pleasantly Warm, or just Snowing. I never seemed to mind then, but then again, I wasn’t driving or working… as a kid you always seem to make the best of it. But this weekend left everyone guessing: Warmth, Rain, Sunshine, Overcast, Windy, Sunny. If you waited more than 5-10 minutes it would just change all over again.
So where am I going with all this?
First, a special thanks to all the countless hours that the flaggers, workers, instructors and volunteers put into making this event a complete success! We can’t thank you enough and we definitely appreciate everything you do for us and couldn’t do it without you.
Secondly, it was probably some of the most exciting driving conditions in a long time. Granted, a drying track is probably one of the most precarious situations, it did make for some well learned lessons in car control!
As always I am happy to have been part of the action, and can’t wait for the next PDX/TimeTrials Event.
