There is no doubt that this automotive "sickness" started at a really early age. My parents gave me a pedal powered VW Rabbit Cabrio when I was 2 years old and I believe it was all down hill from there. Alas, it only got worse, I was able to name Makes/Models of a lot of cars by 5 years old. But what really got me "hooked", was when my father took me to a go-kart track for the first time. I was about 6 years old and it was amazing! I still have a huge affinity for karting and I look back on it as the gateway to amateur Motorsport. My father was a long time AutoXer and DE instructor with PCA, SCCA and other clubs. We were definitely a "car household" - I grew up at the track and spent my spare time in the garage "holding the light" working on some crazy Franken-Car or another. Not until my father passed in 2010 did I finally get the motivation to retire from Karting/Auto-X and move into Road Racing. Little known fact but, I started with a heavily modified VW Jetta Turbo Diesel which lasted about a half season until it exploded. We found the TT the next year (2011) and have been going strong ever since!
