VIRginia International Raceway is for Lovers

Share

2019… that’s the last time we were all together at VIRginia International Raceway. Can you believe that?

The pandemic has really shaken up our track schedules, and many folks have left the sport or sold their cars in the meantime. Track “dates” are getting more difficult to coordinate with offerings mid-week because weekends are at a premium for larger racing organizations. But when the opportunity presents itself… Who is going to say “NO,” to going to VIR?

We embarked on a miniature “GTM cannonball” with most of us traveling 6+ hrs to get to VIR. 3 days of this delightful asphalt beach left us a bit dehydrated but its always better than a day at the office. Temps were high, but all the GTM cars ran strong enough without issues; many people (including us) were chatting about trap speeds being below expectations, water temps spiking to 220+ degrees, and turbo cars loosing power after about 2 warm up laps.

None of that really matters because… VIR is always FUN! — And that’s what mattered most… getting back on track with great friends at a great facility and just tearing it up the best we knew how. #sendit. #fullsend.

Shoutout to all the folks at HOD for hosting us. We hope that you can join us for our next group outing, so stay tuned to the club Discord for more details!
